I earned my undergraduate degree from Hunter College in English. I have extensive experience working with students at a nearby charter school as an education specialist and also as a tutor. I've found my time working individually with special needs students to be invaluable in my development as an effective educator. I fully appreciate that each student has unique learning needs and a unique learning style that must be taken into consideration if the child is going to succeed. This is especially true for any student who is struggling with their coursework in a typical classroom setting. Some of the courses I tutor include reading, writing, essay editing, literature, English grammar and syntax, public speaking, English, and comparative literature. I also enjoy working with students who are preparing to take standardized exams. I strongly believe in the Socratic method as a means of evaluation. I also believe it is important to provide positive reinforcement at every opportunity to increase the student's confidence in their academic ability. My ultimate goal is to impart a true love of learning in each of the students I have the privilege of working with. When students love to learn, learning becomes something they look forward to rather than dread regardless of how challenging the subject matter may be.
