EducationWesleyan University - BA, Neuroscience
ExperienceI live in the Ridgewood, NJ area and I am a Neuroscience major at Wesleyan University. I have a great deal of tutoring experience and am able to teach individuals or groups of all ages. My previous experience includes involvement with the organization Project Story Boost, as a volunteer tutor for 3rd and 4th graders in reading comprehension. I have also been a Big Sister, tutored in 3rd grade mathematics and science, tutored at Bates College in introductory chemistry, and worked as a teaching assistant at Wesleyan University (where I also kept office hours and engaged in lectures for groups of students). I am also able to tutor courses in organic chemistry, honors chemistry, physics, Latin, biochemistry, pre-algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus 2. My teaching philosophy is to integrate fun and alternative methods to absorb the course material. I like to "learn along with the student" so that each experience is an individual one, and the student is eager to take on the next challenge. I have received training in special communication techniques that allow for an accurate assessment of a student's strengths and weaknesses; this is where the foundation of my teaching plan is built for each student. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling. I also like music, and I enjoy engaging in community service.
