ExperienceI teach creative writing--comedy sketches, personal essays, short stories, dramatic scenes or monologues, and full-length plays or screenplays.
At New York University, I teach the classes “How to View and Think About Movies Like a Critic,” “Cinematic Structure,” and “Writing the Monologue.” At The Peoples Improv Theater in New York, The Philadelphia Improv Theater and the online school www.FilmLab.ca, I teach a popular workshop on comedy analysis, writing and acting. In high school, I taught reading at United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cincinnati.
I have edited books (fiction, current affairs, autobiographies, textbooks) for Neal-Schuman Publishers, George Braziller Inc., Thomas Nelson Publishers, Three Dog Press and Hyperion. Periodicals that have published my writing are The Village Voice, Chicago Reader, Premiere Magazine, Giant Magazine and Film Journal International . I have written for the TV shows The State on MTV and Best Week Ever and for the Blue Man Group. As an actor, I have appeared on Reno 911! and Flight of the Conchords.
